since the past two months more or less the only thing i've done has been playing games, i thought i should open a game discussion topic. i used to be a lot into games back when i was kid, but then about 10 years ago or so, i kinda grew out of it as music production took my interest more and more. i still played some pc games now and then like nhl series with my friend and some great strategy games like civilization and heroes of might and magic. then about three/four years ago i got grand theft auto san andreas for my crappy pc, and thought it was the greatest game ever made. i've always had a huge interest in "do anything you want kinda sandbox games" and even though i dislike modern hiphop, i really like the early 90s hiphop (g-funk style expecially) and i'm very interested on the gang wars and the whole eastcoast-westcoast events. love movies like Boyz n the Hood and Menace II Society etc.. so this was a perfect game for me, and more or less the next 2 years went playing this with my crappy pc with crappy resolution and gfx detail quality. last year i finally decided to buy myself a nintendo wii (the last console i had was the first nintendo console nes, like 15 years ago), and that thing is just absolutely great fun when you're hanging out with your friends having few beers (or more). also now finally i have games that my girlfriend is actually interested to play with me one thing i really love about the wii, is that it's a great gateway to retrogaming. i can enjoy all the great nes and snes releases i used to love as a kid (like the megaman and zelda series). back when i was 10 years old or something i loved the snes 'zelda III - a link to past', and now 15 years later when i play it i still freaking love the game so currently i'm playing a bit older pc games and wii games, and i'm seriously considering buying xbox360 for christmas, so i can enjoy Saints Row 2, GTA IV, San Andreas and Gears of War 2 atm i'm playing GTA: Vice City (PC) Civilization IV (PC) Heroes of the Might and Magic 4 (PC) Frets on Fire (MFH mod) (PC) World of Goo (PC) Fifa 09 (wii) Resident Evil 4 (wii) (i'm stuck) Zelda: Twilight Princess (wii) Boom Blox (wii) + couple of wii party games, gamecube, virtual console and wiiware games so anyway, after this long and pointless life story.. feel free to participate with your gaming history and what games are you playing (if any)

oh really? i've never been that much into first person shooters, mainly because i suck at them but i do love resident evil 4, but i guess that's more of a 2nd person shooter (behind the shoulder view). what makes it so good is the wii controls though. but i just recently got to play gears of war 2 on xbox360, and i gotta say this is no doubt the best shooter game i have ever played! the multiplayer modes are just so much fun i'm personally sick of pc gaming. you can never be 100% sure that a certain game works in your system, even though your computer is well beyond the reqs. for instance, back when i was playing san andreas i had to settle for poor graphics because of my weak graphics card and civ4 didn't run at all with it. so i bought a new more powerful card and now civ runs well, but san andreas doesn't run at all. no matter what i do. i've updated all the drivers and directx, and tryied even older versions too, tested every possibly trick i have found while googling through hundreds of pages. also there's couple of games that only run when you install the older drivers for your graphics card (frets on fire for example), so everytime i want to play frets i have install the old drivers first, and everytime i wanna play something else i gotta install the new drivers pc is still the only possible platform for strategy games like civilization.

YO! Sup' docs? It's been awhile - again... I've been hardcore gamer since I got my first console which was - like in Anssi's case - NES. I skipped SNES, Segas, N64 etc. but got my hands on PSONE just before it made it's real breakthrough. I played lots and lots of games like Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Medal of Honor, Metal Gear Solid and when I got PS2 Grand Theft Auto and Need For Speed was added to the list. Before last Christmas I bought myself a PS3 after long thoughts and lots of drooling... I like it now, it's silent, looks good and most of all plays BluRay movies. Now I'm happy owner of games like: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (EUR & JPN versions) GTAIV NHL08 & 09 Medal of Honor: Airborne Assasin's Creed Kane & Lynch Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 Motorstorm In active use are the newer NHL, GTAIV and GT5:P. I bought the Japanese version because Europe version was still coming back then. Please, don't blame me for anything! Next Christmas or by date I'm planning to get Metal Gear Solid 4, Dead Space, Battlefield Bad: Company, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Mirror's Edge, LittleBigPlanet, Bioshock, Fallout 3, FarCry 2 and some other games I really don't even remember! Resident Evil 5 is looking really good too so I hope we get a good game to be played when it shows up. And if we look into the future there's Borderlands, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 to mention few. I'm also playing with PC but less than with console. I have rFactor racing simulation for PC and I play some RTS's like CNC: Tiberium Wars to mention some of the more mainstream ones.

well for me it's football manager 2008 (pc) and pro evolution soccer 2008 (fully updated via max drive) [ps2] they are super. top spin (ps2) is also cool with your friends. there's nothing like to outplay your mates with an insane spins, ace serves and/or flawless swings. back in the days, when i bought san andreas (ps2) i was really hooked. i had to get it thru as soon as possible and i did. now days it's in my closet dustying, will perhaps play it thru again. it's really insane. recently i got a nes emulator (pc) with ~100 games in it. it's really neat to replay them classics (super mario serie, turtles serie, zelda serie, kirby's adventures etc, etc) every once in a while. also i'm getting all the carmageddons (pc) atm to replay them thru once again. it's neat to wreck your opponents little buggies with your expensive and insanely huge truck then there is this monkey island (pc) serie, which i'm playing thru atm. i love these point and click puzzle adventures. after them i might have to install broken sword (pc) serie. its cool too as far as i remember. next to those i always keep my eyes open for the new games. hopefully there will be a new super game (i'm extremely picky about my games) in the future.

little big planet, resistance 2 and the downloadable wipeout hd would be the main reason for me to get ps3. unfortunetly the price is just too high for my budget, and i have absolutely no use for blu-ray other than the games (i've never bought any dvd movies, i only own two dvds and they are both music live performance dvds). also not being able to play gears of war 2 would be a big let down (although i'm sure resistance would cover that a lot)
so yeah at this point it seems i'm going for the loud piece of shit that need to be sent to germany every once in a while.

gotta say i love pgr4 and burnout! pgr4 career mode is highly addictive, i find myself playing 'just a one more race' for like 50 times the game looks absolutely beautiful and has a load of cars which all really handle differently. first reason to consider buying the racing wheel. and burnout paradise, goddamn the graphics are really sharp even though this is "already" a year old. two things i love possibly most about games, open world and incredible speed. i've never seen such speeds in any game before, and only the old f-zero gx (on gamecube) compares to the feel of speed that burnout has. just so much fun. grand theft auto IV, is what i've had the most expectations with. i mean the game is the best rated game since zelda ocarina of time in nintendo 64. gta IV scored like 50 100/100 reviews and ofcourse san andreas is still probably my favourite game ever. but i gotta say this is very disappointing. this was suppose to look really fantastic but the graphics are really bad. the animations and patterns are great, but how they come together just fails. they completely overused the blur effect, making it really hard on your eyes. i have a 37" hdtv, i've heard it looks great with small tvs and expecially crt tvs. i got it a little better with some radical display adjustments, but it's still really bad when driving and the shadows in daylight are rippling like they're water or that i have a composite cable (i'm using hdmi). the story hasn't grabbed me like it did with san andreas, and though the game seems really intelligent (pedestrial & police AI) and the cars act a lot more naturally (it's not as easy to drive +200km in a traffic anymore ). other than the graphics i think it might be the realism that's putting me away from this, it's sucking out a lot of fun. i think saints row 2 might be lot more my kinda game (it's said to be over the top and a lot like san andreas). anyway i'm really trying to like this game, and i'm playing it a lot and when the story sucks me in and i forget all the little flaws i think i'll enjoy this a lot. atm i think this is about a 80/100 game, and it will probably rise to 85-90 if i get into it. but i seriously think this is the most overrated game in gaming history. this game is no means a 100/100 game no matter how epic the city or story is, it just has too many flaws to be perfect. i'm no graphics whore, i don't mind bad graphics, but over blurring is just something i can't take. anything that's further than 3m's in the game goes to ps1 graphics with composite cable and broken crt tv. i know the fan boys are defending it saying it's an artstyle, but when your eyes hurt playing it and make it difficult to vision the whole city and environment, there's something wrong. i'll keep on playing though and see if it becomes better.. PC: gta III 75/100 (felt like a 90/100 game when it came out though, but the sequels have made it less playable) PC: gta vice city 85/100 (super game when it game out almost 95/100, and still playable) PC: gta san andreas 95/100 (best game ever when it game out, and possibly it still is) X360: gta IV 80/100

oh and i just ordered 'Elder Scrolls IV: The Oblivion', which is said to be the best rpg of this generation (rated 94/100 in metacritic.com), and one of the best rpg games on consoles ever (although i'm sure most jrpg and final fantasy fans beg to differ). i've never been that much into rpgs, but i do love the zelda series which is action rpg. and one of my favourite pc game series is heroes of might and magic, which i've been playing since heroes II (released in 1996). and though it's mainly a strategy game, it has a lot of rpg elements which are what make it so good. so i finally decided to try out a real pure epic rpg game. i don't don't know if i have the time for this, but i'm super excited. plus it only costed 13€
